Safety Policies

These policies are subject to change & will be modified, if needed. Updated 8/16/2021.

Mask Policies

  • Teachers & parent volunteers will use face coverings when dancers are in the building

  • For dancers ages 6 & up: masks are required until further notice

  • For Acro: we recommend that you do not use a mask while executing limbering & tumbling skills. We will stay socially distanced throughout this time.

  • For dancers ages 1-5 years: masks are not required. We will have smaller classes for them, take a bit more time with their class entrance, and space them farther apart in the studio.

Social Distancing Policies

  • We will schedule 10-15 minutes between age groups so that dancers can practice social distancing coming & going. Please be ready to pick them up immediately after class so that we can sanitize between classes.

  • Each dancer is given a plastic bin when they arrive where they can set their belongings from home

  • Stickers on the dance floor mark where dancers can stand at center (6+ feet apart)

  • Dancers will wait in their car until the parent volunteer signals for them to enter. Late arrivals please knock on studio door & wait to be admitted.

  • No parents or other spectators will be allowed in the studio (unless volunteering)

  • We will maintain social distancing as much as possible throughout classes and will ask the kids to wear their masks when they must be within 6 feet

  • Parent volunteer will release dancers to their parents after class

  • If your dancer is under 9 years old, please meet them at the door after class to help with a faster transition between classes.

Screening Policies

  • We ask that you attend virtually if you have any signs of sickness

  • If you learn that you have been exposed to Covid-19: Please notify the studio as soon as possible & plan to stay home until the health department clears you to be in public

  • We are taking temperatures at the door. If you register a temperature of 100.4 or above, you will be sent home.

Sanitation Policies

  • Dancers will use hand sanitizer on the way in & out of class & as needed throughout

  • Please try to use the restroom before arriving at the studio, when possible, to limit the traffic there

  • A Parent Volunteer with spot clean frequently touched surfaces as needed (door handles, faucet & knobs, toilet flusher, etc.)

  • We will limit the use of small props (scarves, bean bags, hula hoops, etc.) unless it is something that can be easily sanitized between classes.

  • We will use disinfectant spray & wipe down props between classes, with deeper cleaning several times per week.

  • With the above measures in place, this should allow us to safely use tumbling mats, ballet barres, & other surfaces during class.

  • We will not be keeping a lost & found. If we notice something is left behind, we will try to contact the owner, if known. Please label all dance shoes, water bottles, & notebooks.

  • We have ordered a high quality air purifier to help with clearing the air

  • We will keep the door open as much as weather and bugs will allow.

If a dancer in your class tests positive:

·      We will send an email to the address on file of any classmates

·      The positive student should alert the studio right away and will need to follow CBJ guidelines for when they can resume activities. They need to complete their quarantine and have been fever free for at least 48 hours before they return to the studio. They can attend virtual classes via Zoom, if they feel well enough.

·      If your dancer shows any symptoms, they will not be allowed to attend in person until they are symptom free and have been fever free for at least 48 hours. We are not requiring you to test, but encourage you to do so if you feel concerned or are showing symptoms. You can attend virtual classes via Zoom, if you feel well enough.

·      If you are not showing symptoms, but feel more comfortable attending virtually, you are always welcome to join class via Zoom. Our Zoom link will always be open during class so this is an option every week or as often as needed.

·      If you are symptom free and have not had a positive test, you can continue to attend classes in person.

·      Each class has a unique Zoom link. You can find these links in your parent portal through www.tafydancealaska.com or the TAFY Dance Alaska app in the app store. The standard password for every class is the word “dance”.

·      You do not need to notify us if you plan to attend class via Zoom.

·      If you will be absent for any reason, please log into your parent portal and click on “absences” before the class begins to notify your teacher.

·      If someone in a dancer’s home tests positive, regardless of symptoms, we ask that the dancer attend class virtually until everyone in their household has completed quarantine.
