Bringing you a full spectrum Musikgarten program of early childhood music and movement through private piano lessons.
What is Musikgarten?
Musikgarten is a sequential, research based musical journey for your family from birth to elementary keyboard classes. Classes are designed to nurture musical aptitudes, but they do so much more. Through moving, chanting, dancing, listening and playing, children are stimulated to appropriate growth and brain development. Each 12-14 week program includes materials to help you continue the magic in your home.
Meet the teacher!
Karen Lange grew up in Juneau and has recently moved back after almost 30 years. She is excited about bringing Musikgarten to Juneau as a certified Musikgarten teacher. She has taught Musikgarten for nine years in another location and loves the smiles, fun, and learning that Musikgarten delivers to families and children of all ages. With her BA in Church Music: Piano, Miss Karen has taught traditional classical piano as well, but she loves the joy and success that children experience through the Musikgarten method. "I especially love that Musikgarten is based on years and years of collaborative research on how children learn music and how they develop musical aptitudes at every level and stage of growth!” Miss Karen has homeschooled three beautiful daughters who are all in successful pursuits. She lives in Juneau with her husband Marty and high school son, Nathan.

Musikgarten For Babies & Toddlers (Wednesdays)
(Ages 0-24 months with a caregiver)
Classes are 45 minutes each and meet for 12 weeks per session.
Class dates are August 23, 30, Sept 6, 13, 20, 27, Oct 11, 18, 25, Nov 1, 8, 15
Play musically with your baby/toddler through bouncing, rocking, chanting, dancing, moving, and singing. Musical play activities are designed to increase your child’s curiosity about and love for music, to develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and to establish the foundation for singing and musical aptitude.

Family Musikgarten (Wednesdays)
(Ages 0-3 years with a caregiver)
*Babies up to 6 months join for free with an older paying sibling
Classes are 45 minutes each and meet for 12 weeks per session.
Class dates are August 23, 30, Sept 6, 13, 20, 27, Oct 11, 18, 25, Nov 1, 8, 15
Children are born with the ability to sing, to move rhythmically, and to express themselves musically! They have an inborn love for the rhythm and rhymes captured in nursery rhymes. This class for mixed ages of children combines the joy of music making with the fascination for playing with the sounds of our language. Activities are adapted to the children in the classes ages 0 – 3.

PreK Musik Makers (Saturdays)
Ages 2-3 years with a caregiver
Classes are 45 minutes each and meet for 9 weeks per session.
Class dates are Sept 16, 23, Oct 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, 18
We explore the four seasons in a musical celebration using activities that build on the child's growing independence and competencies. It nurtures the children's ability to use language and capitalizes on their delight in dramatic play within the musical context. Lessons are filled with songs, movement activities, exploration of instruments, and imaginative stories for children to make their own.

Kinder Music Makers: Pre-Piano
(Ages 4-6 years. Caregivers participate for the last 15 minutes only)
Classes are 1 hour each which includes 45 minutes of student instruction and a 15 minutes family time. 14 weeks per session.
Class dates are August 22, 29, Sept 5, 12, 19. 26. Oct 10, 17, 24, 31, Nov 7, 14, 28, Dec 5
4-6 year olds are now ready for this sequential 2 year music program guiding them toward musical literacy. Classes include singing, creative and structured movement, playing instruments and ensemble work, ear training and guided listening, as well as a developmentally sound approach to music literacy that builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self-expression.
